The Deerfield Massacre :
•Life on the frontier became dangerous with unpredictable attacks from French regular Troops and Indians.
•There were massacres when scalps would be taken and men, women and children being killed and kidnapped.
•February 1704 circa 300 settlers of Deerfield, Massachusetts were asleep.
•The war cries of the French and Indians woke the settlement.
•Within a few hours 50 people were killed with 17 homes burned down and 111 people taken as prisoners.
•The prisoners who could not follow the faced paced Indians were tomahawked and killed.
•All but 17 of the 111 captives survived the march to Canada.
•60 of the captives eventually returned back to the colonies.
•The rest:

–Married Canadians
–Converted to Catholicism
–Married Indians
